In February 2008, Coca-Cola Philippines partnered with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Philippines for a 5-year project to preserve and rehabilitate the Santa Rosa Watershed and river basin. The program aims to educate the stakeholders of the Santa Rosa River watershed of the importance of working together to protect our sources of water. Over a period of 5 years, the project has set the following objectives: 1) to conduct a thorough assessment of the Santa Rosa River System and the facts affecting its degradation; 2) to mobilize and empower stakeholder groups for the effective management the Santa Rosa watershed, and 3) to establish the Santa Rosa watershed management plan. Coca-Cola Philippines is also working with WWF Philippines in a conservation program for the forest and rivers of the Abuan watershed, which is bounded within the Ilagan Municipality of Isabela Province. The program was launched in December 2008. During its first year, the program introduced good agro-forestry practices and provided incentives, technical assistance and employment to farmers and upland residents, tasking them with the gathering and planting of windlings in designated reforestation sites.
